Changes

I've sat and looked back at past conversations and wondered if I've changed and am I changing for the better? I remember back in elementary school I school I was a bully. Jr. High I seemed to only care about myself. High School I grew up a little and let some people into my life. I began to care about other peoples success and feelings more but still let only a few people into my life to see the real me. Almost all of those friends I let in are still here and are like family to me now. There is a very small portion that I've let go but I still look back and I'm thankful to them for teaching me more about myself and helped me grow in other ways. And I probably still think and care about you more than you would ever even know. I went on my mission and I learned how to truly love people. I didn't really care if I had fungus growing in my stomach, walking on a broken foot, eating terrible food daily, or not being able to see my amazing family for two years. It was the best time of my life because I served others and participated in miracles daily. I saw what true happiness was and was helping others see it as well. Now I've come back to college and I wonder where am I now? Am I a bully? Do I only care about myself? Am I getting better or am I getting worse? Michael Jordan said,

"My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength."

I think everyone needs to have that attitude. Take things that people say especially those who care about you and get better. No one is perfect, but everyone can do better. Tomorrow is a new day and I hope to turn some weaknesses into strengths.

Just Me

My name's Andrew Hafen and I'm from the greatest place on earth, Boulder City, Nevada. I love my hometown and the great people who have made me the person I am today. My family is my everything and I love them more than they probably could ever know. I have the best parents, that have given me the opportunity to succeed in life and great examples to live by. My older brother who has been my hero since I was a little kid and has taught me that anything worthwhile is worth working for. My sis who is the most Christ-like person I have ever met and is an example of true love. And last but not least my lil bro, one of my very best friends, who continues to make our family proud on a daily basis. I also have two sets of grandparents and know they would do anything in the world for me. And friends, I have a lot and I hope they know they are family to me too.

I'm very blessed and I took all these things for granted my whole life. Serving a mission for my church in Paraguay was the greatest things that ever happened to me. I say greatest because of how it blessed my life and how I look at the world around me, now. It wasn't easy and that's part of the reason it was so great. In Paraguay I learned what true love is and the importance of the Savior Jesus Christ in my life. I saw true happiness everyday and now look to have that in my life as well. I saw and was part of miracles daily. I'm far from perfect and at times take things to far (such as joke). If I'm not messing with you then I don't love you. Remember that. Once you enter my life you're there for good and I'll never forget about you.
